Bag Policy
Bag policies for Arena events (excluding hockey and basketball) are determined by the tour promoter and may vary by each event. Please check the respective Event Page for details.
Carolina Hurricanes & NC State Bag Policy
- Clutch/wristlet bags smaller than 4.5" x 6.5" are permitted; these are not required to enter via bag X-ray line.
- Parenting bags and medical bags are permitted and required to pass through X-ray machine prior to entry.
- Guests can expect longer wait times for bag lines.

Bag Policy FAQ's
Why is PNC Arena adopting a new Bag Policy?
Per the direction of the NHL we are updating our bag policy and making it more uniform for other PNC Arena events. The safety of our guests is the top priority in all security decisions. We want to provide a safe environment for all attendees and expedite entry into the arena.
Are other venues adopting similar policies?
Yes. All NHL arenas have this policy to increase public safety.
How does the bag policy improve public safety?
Our bag policy allows for a more efficient bag check and reduces faulty bag searches.
What type of bags am I permitted to bring?
A small clutch or purse that is no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”.
Am I allowed to bring a diaper/parenting bag into PNC Arena?
Diaper bags are permitted when accompanied by a child. These bags will be screened through the X-ray line and tagged.
What if I have special medical equipment or a breast pump I need to have with me?
Exceptions are typically granted for medically necessary items and breast pumps after proper inspection. These bags will be screened through X-ray lines and tagged.
What happens if I show up at the gate with a bag that is not permitted?
Guests will not be permitted to bring prohibited bags into the arena. Guests will be asked to return prohibited items to their vehicle prior to entering. The PNC Arena is not responsible for items left behind, lost, stolen, or damaged. If guest arrived via rideshare, they may have their bag searched at our x-ray machines prior to entry. Please be aware that these lines can have wait times of 20 minutes or longer. .
Do I have to put everything I’m carrying into the permissible bags?
The bag policy limits only the type of bags permitted into the arena, not the items. Guests can continue to carry items such as keys, phones, wallets, etc. loosely or in an approved bag. Please review our list of prohibited items (PNCArena.com/Policies) if you are unsure if an item is permissible.
Are there other security measures?
Yes. All other security measures will remain in place for further screening of all guests entering PNC Arena, including walk-through metal detectors and canine teams.
