Part-time Production Assistant

Salary Range: 17.00 per hour

 The part-time Production Assistant will be responsible for the operation of all event-related production equipment for all Carolina Hurricanes and NC State Basketball games as well as special PNC Arena events.

 Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-         Fill game-day positions in the production booth when & where scheduled

-         Participate in pre-event meetings and ask questions as necessary

-         Operation of house audio and lighting systems for hockey, basketball, and other events

-         Setup and tear down of sports scoring & game day equipment

-         Operation of audio & presentation equipment for non-ticketed events

-         Setup, operation, and tear down of portable sound systems & microphones for auxiliary events

 Examples of equipment used include:

·        Digital and analog audio mixers (small & large format)

·        Conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures

·        Projectors, televisions, computers, tablets w/ control software, DVD players

·        Wired & wireless microphones, handheld & body-worn

·        Party-line communication systems/intercoms

·        Spotlights

·        Daktronics All-Sport controllers 

Starting pay is $17.00 per hour

Qualifications

  • Must have prior experience as a sound engineer, lighting engineer, or AV technician in a live event setting. Associate’s degree in communications or extensive related fieldwork preferred. 
  •  Must have ability to stay alert and observant of surroundings, have a high attention to detail, remain flexible and work well under pressure and follow a cue list and/or directional cues from show-caller/producer. 
  • Be a self-starter, able to follow instructions and work without supervision for extended periods of time. Maintain a positive and professional manner when interacting with the public, peers, and superiors. 
  •  Physical requirements include ability to stand for long periods of time, running cables in confined spaces, climbing stairs, working in high altitudes/catwalk, walking long distances, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs. 
  • Candidate must be available to work all types of booked events (hockey, basketball, concerts, comedy shows, and family shows) scheduled on nights, weekends, and some holidays. 
  •  A flexible work schedule is required for the position including availability for at least 60% of all arena events scheduled per month and ability to report for scheduled shift by 5:00p on weekdays. Event times will vary.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
